Drug Buyers is actually quite a good read for laughs with post like:
"I have a valid RX for oxycontin but need to find the cheapest online source to get it filled. Does anyone know where this might be?"

I think the chronic pain patients over there make-up about 2% of the total posts.

"Also, if I may play devil’s advocate here for a moment: It doesn’t surprise me that a real doctor can’t spell Vicodin. First of all, it’s a made-up word, not something you could look up in your Funk & Wagnalls."

What's wrong with his PDR? I've never been to a doctor's office that didn't have one immediately available.

First of all, there are indeed some f*wit doctors who prescribe Darvocet post-surgery. I was unfortunate enough to get one back in '94, when I had hemorrhoids removed. Not major surgery, admittedly, but still painful, especially as it triggered a levator spasm that lasted all night. Not knowing any better, I accepted this RX and had it filled (I wasn't a pharmacist yet); I found that Darvocet is approximately 10% less effective than M&Ms for pain control. Went back the next day and demanded something stronger; he gave me Vicodin (which made me nauseous as hell, but sometimes you have to choose whether you'd rather be nauseous or in pain).

Also, if I may play devil's advocate here for a moment: It doesn't surprise me that a real doctor can't spell Vicodin. First of all, it's a made-up word, not something you could look up in your Funk & Wagnalls. (It's easier to trademark an invented word than one found in a dictionary, which is why Humana chose that name.) Besides, I've seen plenty of misspelled drug names on prescriptions over the years, and I'm sure you have as well... nothing new there.

I also should point out that this particular name seems to be a regional thing. When I was an intern in the Buffalo/Lockport/Niagara Falls area, I never even heard of Vicodin other than as a name in a book: all the doctors round there wrote for Lortab 5/500, (except for that one maniac who insisted on Zydone *capsules*: that's the same guy who would always put DAW on *Zyloprim*, for $DEITY's sake, so I dunno what was his problem) and the big bottle of generic HC 5/500 tabs was shelved under "L". The only thing we kept by "V" was the Vicodin-ES, and nobody wrote for that anyway: if they wanted 7.5mg of HC, they'd prescribe Lorcet-Plus. (MDD=6 vs 5) Wasn't until I moved back to the NYC area that I started seeing scripts for Vicodin, and I spent much time trying to argue prescribers into using the lower-APAP-containing varieties rather than the Vic-ES. I'm older and more cynical now, so I generally don't do that unless I have them on the phone anyway. You'd be surprised how many doctors (and especially dentists) aren't aware of the 4g/day limit on APAP... anyway, it's actually possible that he doesn't write for it every day like the docs around here.

Or he could just be an idiot. No way to tell from where I sit.

As to doctors commenting on non-MD blogs, you do see a lot of doctors on nursing blogs, especially ER nurses' blogs. Not so many on pharmacy blogs.

@Suzy: DrugBuyers is a forum for those who wish to purchase medicines, especially controlled substances, through the Net without a legitimate prescription. They offer some valuable resources, namely lists of MDs who will write scripts without a face-to-face exam, and those pharmacies who they have suckered into filling said scripts; who stocks Watson instead of Mallinckrodt (I always thought Mallinckrodt was the OEM of the raw powdered narcotic that the other guys make into tablets, but I could be wrong: the druggies seem to think that the Watson is better for some reason, and don't like Qualitest *at all*. Maybe I should stock only QT, that way I won't get this crowd here); which sites are rip-offs and which are legit, at least to the extent of giving them what they paid for; that kind of thing. Google it and be enlightened. I suppose some of them are actually legitimate chronic pain sufferers, but I doubt all of them are, especially when someone posts stuff like:

"I was driving down the highway and managed to spill about 75 or 80 hydros all over the floorboards of my truck.I don't think the 5 second rule should apply in this case seeing how it took A good 1/2 hr. to get my big hands between the seats and scoop them up. p.s. also found 2 gaviscons and an old ear plug. MERRY CHRISTMAS. "

The *Angry* Pharmacist has been quoted on that forum, and he links here, so it's not inconceivable that someone from DB is trying to yank our chains. (Although it's very unlikely that any poster at DB won't know how to spell Vicodin...)

He's gonna chase my shadow for a while.

It would take a hell of a legal team and some serious lawsuits/allegations to pry my identity from behind the hands of my host.

The only way for him to break the code would be to catch me posting on a fellow blogger's website. They would be able to divulge at least my IP, ISP, location, browser, and other assorted computer related info. From there, there's some more legal hurdles to get the identity behind the numbers unless you're some sort of hacker or seriously in the know.

It'd be easier to just email me, make friends with me, and ask me who, what, where, and why....

PS - I concur - Elway sucks - who wins the SuperBowl and retires?...:-)

I don't know TAP, I think the good "Doctor" is going to try and find you. You just better hope he doesn't talk like he types!! I don't think this moron could spell Plan B correctly, and now we all must suffer since it wasn't around years ago for his mom to use.

Anyways, I still think this guy is not a doctor. My proof: I am a pharmacist, which is an easy job (According to Dr. Doolittle), and even I don't have as much time to devote to this site as this sad excuse for a medical professional seems to have.

Finally, JOHN ELWAY SUCKS!!!!!
