AMA No Dice

With the new tamper-resistant deal in effect, my E.R. has ceased to use traditional prescription pads, thank you Lord God and Medicare. They are issuing ALL outpatient RXs on a computer word processor and printed on tamper-resistant paper. I suppose it will be a while before this technology becomes commonplace, but it’s on the way.

Insurance? Try Medicaid. You’re footin the bill for this one.

It’s funny that you think 1) that the person has insurance and 2) that the person would pay the bill either way.

We get faxes from the local health board daily about missing prescription pads-but we never get told stuff like that!!

Which makes me wonder what is the motivation-do they want to be caught? Surely they’d know there would be a call-and-catch out on them? Defies logic.

How hard would it be for her to go 55 miles and get the scrips filled?

Do you normally check up on out-of-town scrips with the prescriber?

Thats kinda sorta like the hispanic chick who wrote herself a prescription for Methadone 40, no directions, and 5 refills. Signed w/ a Dr.’s name who at the time was on vacation.
Like I’ve always said, if you’re gonna do something stupid, at least do it right.

PS - ER scripts filled outside of 50 miles would be questioned and prolly called on unless we’re in a weird rural area…

Stupid idiot. She must have been desperate to steal from an ER. I wonder what she’ll try to get. The smaller pharms may want to watch it, If she does suspect she has narced on (the pun was phun) she may go to a smaller pharmacy, thinking that the pharmacists won’t know. Her thinking “walgreens/cvs is huge they can transmit to every walgreens in the country if necessary, if I go to a small pharm I won’t get caught because they probably have no damn clue”

The last time I went to ER I left AMA. Insurance paid.

I live in Oregon and the last fraudulent rx I got, the patient had medicaid, and I called them and told them what happened and they said he would no longer will eligible for Medicaid. and they would file fraud charges….hahahahahahha one less dumbfuck we have to foot the bill for

It depends on the insurance policy. Not ALL insurance companies are the same! Some policies have a clause that says if you are IP for substance abuse and leave AMA without finishing the full course of treatment they won’t, but usually there is no such clause for normal ER or IP stays.
