Housekeeping note — UPDATED

Next — Subscription drive. I realize that we are in the days of RSS feeds and whatnot, but I don’t understand or use them. I’d rather get an email when a new post is made on TheAngryPharmacist.com than receive notification any other way — it’s instant, and I can choose to visit or ignore it. So, if you read my posts — subscribe. Enter your email in the little area in the rightmost sidebar. I promise your email address is secure and will not be used for any other purposes other than to notify you of new posts/pages. I’ve got about 200 subscribers. It’s worth it to them. Now, let’s double that number!

Finally — If you are signed up with DIGG, click the orange DIGG THIS box in the far right sidebar. Digging a site will drive more traffic to it — I’d appreciate it, and we could get more readers interested in the woes of pharmacy practice. Also, stumble is a powerful tool. Most of my posts are added to stumble. So, if you like it, give it a thumbs up — as well as just the main website itself. Or, you can click the little stumble icon embedded in every post (you have to view the post — not just read it from the main page). Thanks! Note: Don’t add the post to stumble if it had no substance — like this one. My regular readers are interested in this content of this post as it’s about the website, no one else would be. People won’t stumble here and be happy with a housekeeping note….;-)

You may have noticed that I’ve solicited advertisements on the site with a little note in the sidebar. I’ve also added a plugin that asks for readers to “buy me a beer” at the end of every post and in the sidebar. I hated having to do that…and the picture sucks (I’m gonna try and make it transparent tonight).

But, I got my webhosting/domain/etc bill recently, and it was expensive. It has a lot to do with the large files I host (Like the hilarious Pharmacy Consultation Video). Anyway, the Google Adsense Ads are simply not cutting it. Firefox can keep them from displaying and nobody ever clicks them (It doesn’t help that mine peddle Oxycodone and online pharmacies).

So, I’m trying some different things to help pay the cost of running the website.

If you find joy or solace in my posts, throw me a freaking bone…

1. Put the video on YouTube, that way you can still have it on the site but you don’t pay for the bandwidth.

2. Get together with Angry and DrugMonkey and split a Virtual Private Server. Usually a LOT more bandwidth for not much more per month.

Every time I’ve put it up, a certain school of pharmacy petitions YouTube to take it down for copyright violations. Funny, cause they’ve never contacted me. YouTube just removes shit anytime someone asks - valid or not.

I couldn’t split with them. I don’t know shit about technology other than what I’ve learned on here, and I doubt DrugMonkey wants anything to do with me and TAP. We don’t know shit about politics, and we don’t whine enough.

I cant share a webhost with the DrugNazi. The moment he misspells a word he will whine about how its Bush’s and Big Pharma’s fault his ‘L’ key went out and demand someone else foot the bill for a new keyboard.. :)

Try liveleak.com instead of YouTube. And if youbandwidth is under a terabyte a month you should move hosts. Don’t have to agree with MonkeyMan, just calculate how much more scotch he could buy with the savings.
