How smart are you?

We all know that pharmacists are intelligent. Pharmacy school isn’t easy. But, how smart are we? Do you know your actual IQ? Have you ever been tested? Do we have any MENSA Pharmacists out there?

I got tested in 1st grade. My IQ was registered at 126. I vaguely remember the experience. I remember going to a lady’s house and spending the entire day with just her — taking a series of tests but they seemed like games to me at the time. The only real test I remember was being shown a picture of a man walking down the street in the rain and being asked to identify everything wrong with the picture. So — he was holding his umbrella rather than covering himself. The stop sign was shaped like a triangle. The sun and the moon were both showing in full. Stuff like that. Of course, that’s a test performed over 25 years ago on a child. Is that still applicable now? Who knows….[Note: I know the results of the test because it's in my High School scrapbook -- not because I'm a weirdo.]

1-24	Profound Mental Retardation
25–39	Severe Mental Retardation
40–54	Moderate Mental Retardation
55–69	Mild Mental Retardation
70–84	Borderline Mental Retardation
85-114	Average Intelligence
115-129	Bright
130-144	Moderately Gifted
145-159	Highly Gifted
160-175	Exceptionally Gifted
Over 175	Profoundly Gifted

I found an IQ test online that I believed to be rather reputable. It takes 40 minutes to complete and it is simple at first. However, it quickly escalates in difficulty…to the point where the last 3-4 questions I had absolutely no clue as to what the answer was. I still felt pretty good about the test. My result was 130. I, of course, didn’t take a screenshot of the result because I’m a retard. The test was rather frustrating, so I don’t want to do it again. I may though — to see if I can better my score. I’m sure that the questions are different each time. If they are not, I wouldn’t respect the results. If I take it again — I’ll post a screenshot.

Anyway, take the test. Let me know what your results are! Lets see how smart pharmacists, technicians, et. al are! Post your job as well.

It is mostly a test of spatial relationships, shapes, and such. I’ve heard that these types of IQ tests are biased — favoring men for whatever reason. We shall see…

Consider yourself a genius! I took the Mensa test and passed (proud member) but only scored 118 on this test! The Mensa test involved more varied sets of questions (math, logic, spatial, etc) and was timed to the point that you didn’t have time to think about anything (e.g. 5 minutes for 20 questions). This one actually seemed harder. You should look to see if Mensa is giving the test in your area–I’d be willing to bet you’d pass with flying colors. Then, when people call you an idiot on your blog, you can just flash your Mensa badge at them. :)

Ouch. 108. I’ve never scored so low on an online IQ test.
5th year of Pharm school… maybe I should be rethinking things…

Borderline bright here. Scored a 115, and felt completely frustrated on a few of them, notably numbers 26 and 29. Hmmmm….I was looking for shapes though.

I am a freshman in a six year Pharm. school. My score was 122. It looks like I need to study some more or I will be unable to ‘progress’ into third year.

I’m a newly-minted Pharm.D, and I scored 133. Historically I test well, but that sucker was hard.

i was 137 at age 10. that’s when your IQ is supposed to be run. i’d wager you had a mind of a 12 year old at 6 though. i think pharmacy school is making me dumber though…

122. I’m an optometrist FWIW. Felt like I was guessing on the last 15-20 questions.

Depending on the day, how I’m feeling, what I ate for lunch… I’ll hit 145-160 on any IQ test which discriminates at high levels. Perhaps running through the test at 11pm on an empty stomach would explain why I wound up with 122?

158. Pretty much the same as I got in the MENSA test a few years back. Regular drug-store pharmacist.

Not sure if I’m really a genius, or a genius at these sort of puzzles!

140… I pretty much consistently score 140 on these IQ tests. I think the highest I’ve ever scored is 142 and the lowest 138.

I don’t put much weight into these things though. If you take these tests over and over again, eventually you start doing better at them. Therefore, they end up being a test of how well you take the test instead of how intelligent you are.

At age 6. mine was 112. Never have I felt bad to think that despite an average IQ and craniotomy that I’ve always enjoyed my career in pharmacy!

My kid spent several hours in tests last year and his came back 135-151. Now, that’s what makes me feel bad, that I didn’t recognize he was a really smart cookie, and give him more challenges and support!

I took an IQ test when I was in high school… I got a 174 when I was a freshman…. took it again when I was a senior and got a 162! HAHA. I’m a fourth year pharmacy student now… and too afraid to take it again. Maybe if I get really reeeally curious…

I was tested in Montessori school at age 3 or 4, don’t know the score, but I do know my mom thinks she’s the shit because she has a smart kid - fucking narcicist. Tested again in 6th grade, scored 176. Mom wanted me to join MENSA (again, to make her look good) and when I read the information about it, I said to her “No way am I socializing with these nerds!” I didn’t want to be the smart kid, I wanted to be the cool kid.
I’ve seen one or two of these so-called IQ tests online - they aren’t valid. The kind of test TAestP describes from age six is valid.

Funny thing about that though — is that the first school I ever went to, in Memphis, TN, said that I was going to be slow — perhaps have a learning disability.

My mom thought this was bullshit because she had taught me all the things a kid should know in Kindergarten/First Grade — alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, etc. Before the school year, we ended up moving due to a new job for my father and I got retested in the new town. They said that I was going to be gifted. Then they administered the test I spoke of in this post….

I took it and scored 153, which sounds about right, as I usually test within the range of 152-156.

As an aside, I think that all of the pharmacists/pharmacy students who take this test should all score around 130 or greater. Med students lie in this range as well. Lower results aren’t really indicative of the capabilities of these individuals (these are the statistics talking), so I wouldn’t give them much weight.

Pre-Med, scored 137, pitiful compared with what I got in high school; 161.

I believe this test is a lot comprehensive than a majority of other tests.

Pharmacy 3rd year. Scored a 126. My old IQ tests scores range between 125-130.
